Weiblicher Fan: Ich glaube, es war aufregend. Aber wo war die plumpe Aussage übder die Toleranz, wo war die hölzerne Darstellung - mir kam es gar nicht wie ein Star Trek-Film vor.
Männlicher Fan: Ich bin einfach nur richtig, richtig enttäuscht, dass die Geschichte einen Sinn ergeben hat.
Männlicher Fan #2: Wenn ich junge, attraktive Leute sehen wollte, die tolle, aufregende Sachen machen, dann würde ich Sport gucken.
Moderator: Und um jetzt diese Reaktionen zu diskutieren, ist uns Entertainment-Reporter Bree Lindsay zugeschaltet.
Bree: Hi, Glen.
Moderator: Bree, ist dieser Star Trek so fesselnd, wie die Beschwerden der Fans es behaupten?
Bree: Oh Glen, die Vorabkritiken nennen es einen entzückendes Action-Abenteuer und einen garantierten Hit.
Moderator: Kein Wunder, dass sich die Fans verraten fühlen.
Bree: Anscheinend gibt es nicht eine Szene, die an einem langen Tisch spielt, an dem interstellare Diplomatie bis zur Unendlichkeit diskutiert wird.
Moderator: Wirklich? Ich habe auch gehört, dass die Fans verärgert waren, dass die Klingonendialoge untertitelt waren...
Bree: Das sind sie.
Moderator: ...weil die Klingonen dann sogar von Leuten verstanden werden, die diese imaginäre Sprache nicht seit Jahren gelernt haben.
Bree: Yeah. Aber die meisten Fans waren mehr vom Aussehen des Films aufgebracht. Herzerschöpfende Jagden, State-of-the-Art-CGI und Schlachten mit Außerirdischen, die nicht so aussahen, als ob zwei untrainierte Kerle in schlechten Masken einen peinlichen Kampf haben würden
Moderator: Das ist wirklich ein Schlag ins Gesicht der Trek-Fans.
Bree: Richtig. Ja. Aber ich denke, dass das größere Problem ist, dass die Fans dachten, dass Star Trek ihnen gehören würde und nun hat das Studio etwas daraus gemacht, das die Leute tatsächlich mögen werden.
Moderator: Whoah. Und was ist mit dem aufsteigenden jungen Darsteller Chris Pine als James T. Kirk, anstelle des alten, aufgedunsenen William Shatner?
Bree: Natürlich war diese Ankündigung eine Riesenenttäuschung, sowohl für die Fans, als auch für Shatner.
Moderator: Eine Menge Fans haben gesagt, dass dieser Film das Vision von jemandem namens Gene Roddenberry beschmutzen würde.
Bree: Ja, richtig. Gene Roddenberry war der Typ, der Star Trek damals in den 40ern oder so erschaffen hat.
Moderator: So, macht Paramount etwas gegen all diese negative Presse?
Bree: Ja, das machen sie. Sie haben angekündigt, dass die DVD-Veröffentlichung eine spezielle Cut-Version nur für die Star Trek-Fans enthalten wird, in dem es drei Stunden Extramaterial zu sehen gibt, wo die Charaktere herumstehen und die Gründe diskutieren, ob man den andorianischen Botschafter von Sylax 4 retten sollte - solange bis man wünscht, dass sie einfach alle nur tot umfallen würden.
Moderator: Na, dass ist doch immerhin ein kleines Trostpflaster. Danke Bree.
Bree: Danke, Glen.
Moderator: Vor einigen Stunden hat Paramount eine Mitteilung herausgegeben, um die Bedenken der Fans zu zerstreuen: "Wir stehen hinter diesem Film und glauben ganz fest daran, dass er in ein paar Jahren genauso alt und schmalzig aussehen wird, wie frühere Star Trek-Filme."
